  • New House System!

    Published 27/09/19

Mrs Lawson, Vice Principal:  Here at Pegasus Academy we have decided to introduce a new 'house' system whereby learners and staff have been divided into four houses; Apollo, Athena, Atlas and Zeus.  As you will have noticed, these names are from Greek mythology and reflect our chosen Academy name of Pegasus. We aim to run a variety of house competitions over the course of the academic year which will help motivate and encourage teamwork and develop a sense of community. We have already launched our first house competition with Year 7 and 8 and will very soon be asking learners to design new house logos.

Learners have been issued with badges, which they should wear with pride. If a badge is lost or broken learners may purchase a new one from the school shop for just £1.

  • Dudley College - STEM Visit

    Published 27/09/19

Mrs Turton, AIG Careers & Aspirations Advisor:  A group of Year 9 and 10 learners attended a talk by Countdown TV star Rachel Riley at Dudley College.  She spoke to students about her love of maths and how to break in to STEM careers. Learners were given the opportunity to talk with Rachel.  Here is what one of our learners said about the event:

“Rachel looked happy after the questions we asked her.  She told us about her life in university studying mathematics and said that she hadn’t got a chosen career path in mind.

I am happy that I had this awesome opportunity to meet her.”

  • Open Evening

    Published 27/09/19

Mrs Potter, Vice Principal:  At our Open Evening we welcomed learners and their parents from local primary schools.

Our student leaders were in attendance to represent the Academy as tour guides and many more students helped in departments where they encouraged primary learners to take part in activities.  They had the opportunity to make cakes and keyrings in technology, build structures out of pasta and jelly sweets in maths and were entertained by our very talented Year 7 learners in L4L.

The evening was a huge success.  We look forward to many of the learners joining Pegasus in September 2020.

If you are a parent with a student in year 6 and missed the evening but would still like to take a tour Pegasus Academy please contact the Academy on 01384 253 722 to book a tour.

  • Year 11 GCSE Launch

    Published 17/09/19

What a fantastic turnout for our Year 11 Launch event last Thursday evening. We are already moving on a number of the initiatives discussed with our form time intervention starting today and our option drop groups staffed with specialist Maths and English teachers. Your child will have been today issued with a new timetable to reflect this.

We have also worked to set up al the new usernames and passwords for our online learning packages Mathswatch, Century and GCSEPod. It is hoped that by the end of the week your child will have a sticker in the front of their planner with all their new usernames and passwords on.

Finally it is fantastic to note that after Year 7, Year 11 students have the best attendance in the school. If this can be maintained then I am really positive about what we can achieve this year.

Once again thanks for your support

Please below to download a copy of the PowerPoint from the evening.
