Staff to Strike in England and Wales - Wednesday 5th July & Friday 7th July
Published 03/07/23Dear Parents/Carers
You may be aware from media coverage that the teachers’ union, NEU, have declared a further 2 days of strike action again which will take place on Wednesday 5 July and Friday 7 July 2023. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over teachers’ pay, and not because of any issues at our academy. Other teaching unions have directed their members not to cover lessons of other teachers who are on strike.
We are getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible that learning will be disrupted on those days. As with previous strike days, it is our intention to open the academy for as many year groups as possible, however based on current staffing information we will unfortunately not be able to have all year groups in.
As we are unable to staff a full timetable for all years safely, we have taken the decision to open to learners in Years 7 and 10 only on Wednesday 5 July and to learners in Year Groups 8 and 9 only on Friday 7 July 2023. The academy day for those year groups will run as normal.
We are sorry about the disruption to you and to your child’s education. We understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all members of our academy community continue to treat each other with respect. Our academy remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our learners and delivering high-quality teaching.
We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and we will inform you of any changes to the arrangements, based upon expected staffing levels as soon as possible via Weduc, social media and on our website. Due to the ever-changing situation this may change as late as Tuesday 4 July 2023.
If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]
Yours faithfully
